Worn out running shoes

Quote
OTTAWA - An appeal court has confirmed that Canadian taxpayers must pay $6,000 for the "pain and suffering" endured by U.S. multiple murderer Gregory McMaster who injured his knee after prison officials deliberately failed to promptly replace his worn-out ....18-month-old sneakers, knowing his shoes to be "worn-out and inadequate" and knowing that the inmate might injure himself as a result.

This was from another thread.

I have lived in Canada for over five years now. I still wear two pairs of sneakers/running shoes that I bought several years before I left the UK. One pair has the stitching undone on the top and the inner soles are worn. The other pair are pretty worn, fraying in part and the inner soles are also very worn. I have some insoles inside to counteract that problem.

I still wear them as they are serviceable if not particularly comfortable. With the drugs costs (yes, that again  :)) I don't feel I can spend money on new shoes.

Maybe I should go out and commit a crime.

At 18 months those sneakers are just getting broken in .

Briss, if you decide to commit a crime to obtain new ones, may I suggest looking up those judges and oh.....say kicking them where the sun does not shine.

Should you hurt your toes while kicking them, well that just might be grounds for another lawsuit.   ;)

I bought a pair of used sneakers 5 years ago for about $3.00. They were so worn out that last winter I parked them in my stairwell due to lack of tread. I went arse over tea kettle a couple of times the winter before last. My sister gave me a new pair with treads when Zellers started to drop their prices last fall. They are great sneakers, nice traction in the snow but not much support on dry pavement. I think, being a recycled rebel, I'm taking my old treadless sneakers out for a mission tomorrow afternoon.
It's time to sing along......
Head out to the bus stop.
Put on my old sneakers.
Racing with my shadow,
And at noon I'll always win.
I'm thirsty and off to the beer store.
Quench my thirst in the Canadian way.
I'll put my chair on my front steps,
And sit back and enjoy my day.
BORN TO BE MILD.

Is that a new version or did you write it ages ago?

Back in 1976 I borrowed Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Free Bird' for my journey to work

If I leave here at seven
I will catch the seven-ten

That's about all I remember other than something about getting to work at 7.30.  :D

That's a new version, although the beer store part may have appeared in some of my other songs.
