Safety Grips (suction)

For anyone wondering if suction style safety grips work.....they do.

We had a small bar (a rod like thing) built into the shower surrounds but the fitting broke. The surround is panel type and not appropriate for screwing the usual sort of safety grips.

I'd seen some suction types in Lawtons and advertised on Home Depot. Like this.



They come in different sizes, they can fit on the panelling or the bath and they do work.

I can picture somebody getting all tanked up and pulling one off the wall thinking it's a telephone.

i would not trust them most suctions when wet disconnect    ..but they have  clamp on the tub handles

That's what I thought. But they say to remove them when not in use. So long as they go on dry, they are absolutely airtight.

In fact they are quite difficult to get off. My MIL coudn't get them off after they were used the other day.

Of course if you put your full weight on them it might be different.

That's possible.

But being able to steady yourself and supporting yourself with the handle means you're less likely to slip.

And if there's two handles that halves the weight placed on each.

The idea is to use the handles when moving or to aid balance.

Mrs B actually feels safer with these handles than with the original one that broke.
