First-degree murder warrants filed against Travis Brandon Baumgartner

The Edmonton Police Service is in the process of filing Canada-wide warrants for first degree murder (three counts) and attempted murder (one count) against Travis Brandon Baumgartner, 21, of Edmonton.

“With the approval of the Crown, we now believe we have reasonable, probable grounds, that this is the person responsible for this terrible crime,” said Bob Hassel, EPS Supt. Criminal Investigations Div. “We want to encourage anyone who may know of this individual’s whereabouts to contact EPS immediately.”

Police believe Baumgartner is “armed and dangerous” and are urging the public to use extreme caution should they happen to encounter Baumgartner.

Homicide Investigators are trying to determine the whereabouts of Travis Brandon Baumgartner, 21, a G4S employee, who is believed to be one of several armoured company employees that attended the U of A around midnight today, Friday, June 15, 2012, to make a delivery.

Baumgartner (See photos below) is the owner of a dark blue Ford F-150 pick-up truck with an Alberta licence plate number, ZRE 724. Anyone with information on Baumgartner’s whereabouts is urged to contact the EPS complaint line at 780-423-4567 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Baumgartner is 6?-4?, with dirty blonde hair, blue eyes.

Edmonton triple-murder suspect Travis Baumgartner arrested at U.S. border

The man wanted in connection with a deadly armoured car heist at the University of Alberta has been arrested at a U.S. border crossing adjoining British Columbia, police say.

Travis Baumgartner, 21, was stopped at the border crossing in Lynden, Wash., near the U.S.-Canada border southwest of Abbotsford, B.C., Edmonton police said Saturday.

“We’re grateful to the border officials at Lynden, Washington, for their excellent work in arresting a man we believe was armed and extremely dangerous,” Edmonton police Supt. Bob Hassel wrote in a release.

He was arrested in the dark blue Ford F-150 pickup that police had been searching for since he was identified as a suspect. He was alone in the vehicle.
